Brevard investigates professor for Obama pledge

After students complained their math professor asked them to sign a “Vote for President Obama” pledge, Brevard Community College (Florida) launched an investigation and restated college policy: “No College employee shall solicit support for a political candidate during regular College work hours or on College property.” Assistant Professor Sharon Sweet has taken a leave of absence without pay.

A reader pointed to Sweet’s LinkedIn profile, which says she studied art and math at Bard, but apparently didn’t earn a degree. Her highest academic credential is an associate degree in advertising design. Brevard hired her as an assistant professor in math?

As I read her resume she only has an associates degree. Is it common to hire professors who lack even a BA/BS in their field?

Further, her online teacher evaluations are deplorable.
