CCs take job training online

Community colleges are struggling to provide enough online degree and certificate programs to meet demand, writes George Lorenzo. However, seven colleges offer innovative online job training, according to the Instructional Technology Council‘s  2011 survey. Model online programs are:

Bismarck State College in North Dakota, Energy Technology degree and certificate programs; Darton College in Georgia, two-year degree in Histolic Technology, Kirkwood Community College in Iowa, one-year or two-year Water Environmental Technology program; Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana, Manufacturing Production and Operations; Owens Community College in Ohio, associate of applied science in Cancer Information Management; Penn State World Campus, associate of science in Turfgrass Science and Management;  Wayne Community College in North Carolina, an online associate degree or certificate in Emergency Preparedness Technology.
