Ramping up for college via intensive math

Many students fail in slow-moving remedial classes. Carnegie is studying : intensive math remediation, such as boot camps, summer bridge programs and accelerated programs aimed at helping students move quickly to college-level math or test out of remediation.

A report by University of Pittsburgh Professor Jennifer Zoltners Sherer and Alicia Grunow finds intensive programs often support more than just math skills. They serve as on ramps to college.

They help students learn about college support systems, teach study skills and serve as opportunities for students to build relationships with peers, mentors and faculty.

Even interventions with the same name varied significantly from one campus to another.

I am a sophmore student who just failed college algebra. I live in the Houston/Baytown/ Beaumont area. Is there any kind of intensive program I could attend this coming summer 2013 in my area. I must retake this class no later than Fall 2013, Thank you for any info you can provide. Ashely Riley
